A few things…

by Jennifer on February 23, 2008

First, a little housekeeping. Really, I should invite these two ladies for virtual tea (or maybe margaritas), since they were each kind enough to give me a lovely award. Now if I could only figure out how to display these in my sidebar.

excellentawardblog.jpgFirst, a big thank you to HRH at June Cleaver Nirvana, who sent me this award on February 11. I love reading her blog, and it’s on my daily must-read list. If you haven’t seen it yet, be sure to read this post from yesterday. It’s hilarious. She’s cool for so many reasons–and the fact that she can rule a Texas Hold ’em table puts her way up there in my estimation. Vegas, HRH?

I’m passing this first award along to Emily at Wheels on the Bus, because her writing always leaves me with more than I had when I started reading. She’s a lovely soul, and I admire her strength and talent.

addicted.jpgJust a couple of days ago, I received this one from Meg at Lucchese to Louis Vuitton. (Thank you, Meg!) She’s far more stylish than I’ll ever be, and pretty darn tough, too. Go read her two-part post about her encounter with a rattlesnake. In her bathroom. (Just reading it gave me serious doubts about living in the Southwest. And about all those mysterious holes in my yard that I try to ignore.) After you read it, you’ll know (as I do) that she’s a gorgeous, kick-ass Texas chick!

I’m passing this award on to Angela at Reality Testing because of this post from Thursday, and so many others. The girl can tell a story, and she keeps me coming back every day, with great anticipation.

On to other things…My search for reusable shopping bags is complete, for now. Here’s what I found:

bashas.jpg

These bags came from a local grocery chain that gets most of my business. The bags, though not particularly attractive, do have a flat bottom and hold a lot of groceries.

I bought more than I needed, but I’ve been using them (they were 99 cents).

trader-joes.jpgThen, because she read about my quest, my good friend Mrs. B bought me two of these very cool, hip bags from Trader Joe’s. They also rest flat on bottom and hold a lot. I love them (thank you again, Mrs. B!). But the most exciting part of this story is that when she bought them, she must have piqued the interest of two women behind her, because they both hit the display after she stepped away, and bought some of the bags for themselves. See? Changing the world, one bag at a time…

My search for cowboys continues… *sigh*

Hope you’re all having a great weekend, filled (with any luck) with coffee, donuts or bagels, pajamas, and thick weekend newspapers. For me, that’s dreamin’ big.

Congrats on the awards! 🙂

And how do you remember to actually take the reusable bags WITH you when you shop? I love the idea, but I usually can’t even remember to grab my GROCERY LIST when I leave the house…

you expect a lot out of a weekend don’t you?

Congrats on the well-deserved awards. And thank you so much for passing it on to me.

I think Angela was a very, very good choice!

When we move home, we are going to snag some better canvas bags with flat bottoms. I hadn’t even realized how much I wanted ones that stood up on their own.
