Rope tricks (or, I've been tagged)

by Jennifer on March 2, 2008

cowboyroping.jpgThe funny and stylish Tootsie Farklepants at Vintage Thirty was kind enough to run me down and lasso me so she could tag me for this meme. From what I hear, she didn’t even break a nail. She’s that good.

Since I know this is not all y’all’s first time at the rodeo, you can probably just skim these rules and ride on ahead to the saloon and order us a round links below. (Slow Panic, did I get that plural possessive right? Yes, I know you’re a transplant from the North. But if you help me, I won’t tag you.)

Rules: Go back through your archives and post the links to your five favorite blog posts that you’ve written.

Link one must be about family
Link two must be about friends
Link three must be about yourself
Link four must be about something you love
Link five can be about anything you choose

Post your five links and then tag five other people. At least two of the people you tag must be newer acquaintances so that you get to know each other better.

This was a bit difficult, since my archives aren’t as deep as some, but here you go:

1. This tells you a few things I want for my children, wherever we end up. I might even be tempted to climb a tree with them.

2. I haven’t written about my friends (they know too much), but I might make some new, (old?) spooky ones, if I move into the right house.

3. Here is where I show my weakness for an artful, witty, or heartbreaking arrangement of words.

4. I love Mr. H and my children, but I really kinda love looking at cowboys, too.

5. This post was one of my favorites to write, mostly because I didn’t plan it.

If you’re on this Most Wanted list, you’ve been tagged:

On Dragonfly Wings, Confessions of a (Not So) Domestic Diva, Mad Marriage, June Cleaver Nirvana, and The More, the Messier

(And if you’re Sam Elliott, please for the love of god stop reading my blog, saddle up, and ride on over to my house.)

If you don’t want to do the meme, I get it. My lassoing skills aren’t that great, so you’re safe.

Besides, I think Sam Elliott is on his way over.

OH. MY. GOD. !!!! I ADORE Sam Elliott. I have lusted after that man since the movie “Lifeguard.”

Sorry…back to your post, had to get out a drool cloth. I loved ALL of these posts, Jennifer. It is such a treat to be a reader here.

Hope you had a great weekend with plenty of cowboy sightings!

Who would have thought 6 weeks ago that there would be so many wonderful posts to refer back to at this point?

OK, NOT that you wouldn’t have written wonderful posts, but that doing this in the first place came just slightly reluctantly, and LOOK how you’ve progressed!

Thank you for giving me something worthwhile to do when I need a break and have no e-mail!

I will gladly comply…this comes at a great time when my mind is largely void of interesting material and I spend my days watching snow melt off the roof. And I’m looking forward to visiting your choice archives. I’ll be back.

What is it about Sam Eliot that makes me MELT?! He’s probably old enough to be my grandfather, for crying out loud (hang on… let me check…. yep! Born in 1944, Sam Eliot is, indeed, old enough to be my grandfather), but that doesn’t keep me from sighing and swooning whenever I see him.

I’m almost sad you didn’t tag me for this – it seems like an interesting exercise. I like going back through my own posts, and I’m going to very much enjoy reading your choices to fill these categories!

This is a great meme! I’m glad you did it, because I just discovered your blog and it gave me a chance to read some of your older posts…and I’m glad you tagged me, because it will be fun to post some of my older posts.

For what it’s worth…for me, it’s not necessarily cowboys…but there is something lovely about a guy on a horse. Hmm..

Cool meme! I like the use of past posts, as a way to showcase things about you, instead of the usual list, which just isn’t very literary, darn it!

Slow Panic March 3, 2008 at 9:54 am

are you freaking kidding me? i have no idea what a plural possessive is. but thank you for not tagging me.

Jennifer March 3, 2008 at 10:45 am

Slow Panic and everyone, I looked it up at Urban Dictionary:

all y’all’s — Plural possesive form of y’all. Used when addressing a group of 3 or more. Not to be confused with all y’alls, the plural non-possesive form.

Example: “Hey kids, are these all y’all’s pork rinds?”

I’m working on a sentence that will combine the English charm of the word whilst, and the Southern charm of all y’all’s. I’ll get back to you.

Sam Elliot? Have mercy!

I enjoyed this guided tour through your blog. Cowboys are my weakness, even if Pam Houston said it first. Sam Elliott’s a favorite of mine, and Tombstone’s one of my favorite movies.

Milena March 3, 2008 at 3:41 pm

Sam Elliot first: Hottie. No doubt about it.
The meme: delightful. Can’t wait to read all your old posts.
Your recent posts: All charming.
What I will continue to do: Come back for more of your thoughts.
Why? I love the way you write.

Meg March 3, 2008 at 5:10 pm

Awhh….sweetie….you make this Texas girl smile….!!! Sam on a Most Wanted poster? You are sooooooo bad…you need to come to Texas and hang out with me someday….hugs!

oh you are a glorious beast for not tagging me, thank you.

Linda March 3, 2008 at 6:28 pm

I still have the Justin Boots poster from back in college that Sam posed for. For too many years I have lusted over him! Love the music you chose for your music player. Hope you don’t mind but I lifted the poster. Have a nice evening.

HRH March 3, 2008 at 7:38 pm

Sam would be a fool not to show.
