Flipping over Flipping Out

by Jennifer on August 6, 2008

Hi, Cox Communications? Yeah, I’m gonna need a refund for the parts of the season finale of Flipping Out that I missed last night because of your lousy cable reception.

Excuse me? Yes, yes, I’ll hold.

Does anyone else watch this show? I cannot get enough of it. Jeff Lewis, an obsessive-compulsive L.A. real estate investor and house flipper, is maddening and picky and talented and and pouty. Oh, and demanding and a little bit abusive to his staff. He lives in a whole different world from most of us (all?).

At his side is his long-suffering assistant Jenni, who puts up with all kinds of crazy requests (down to the exact temperature of his coffee drink) and has gorgeous hair, to boot (seriously, how long does she spend on her hair?).

Add in Zoila the housekeeper, a mess of pets, and a revolving cast of house assistants, and it’s impossible not to watch.

Unless your cable is out, of course. (Am I still on hold? Hello?)

Jeff changes his drink order:

And Jeff is depressed:

Edited: I meant to highlight “a little bit” when I wrote that Jeff is a little bit abusive to his staff, so you would know I was understating. (It was late, and I missed it. Fixed it now.) He’s a complete ass to the people who work for him.

I probably need to see more to understand this. But when “Jeff is depressed” and said that he feels like a prostitute, I kind of get that with blogging! Madge told me something once before I started blogging that were along those lines (not exactly, but the idea was the same), and I couldn’t see how that could happen. I can now.

I know this post has nothing to do with blogging, but since I’ve never seen this and have no idea what it is, my comment is just in reaction.

Hope your cable comes back!

Okay, I’ll go tangential on you here… Why does my cable company, Charter, keep removing channels from my expanded basic service in order to “offer improved service.” Yeah, right.

Now you have me interested in catching Flipping Out. You know, if it’s on a station that I still can get with my “improved” expanded basic service…

Ooh..I would be yelling at the television in a heated sunday football kinda way. I love Jeffy and all things flipping out. I may actually write a post about it. LOL.

And to top it off, I saw Anderson Cooper sharing his love for flipping out on television yesterday morning, thrilled me to no end.

If I was Jeff’s assistant I would:

1. Put laxatives in that damn coffee. A lot of them. Every day.
2. Put Nair in his shampoo.
3. Throw a bag of flaming dog poop at his car. Maybe in his car.
4. Run him over with a cement mixer.

In no particular order. That being said, I watch the show like it’s my religion. I must be more of a masochist than I thought I was. πŸ˜‰

I cannot get enough of this show. I discovered it this season and quickly became mesmerized by the madness that is, Jeff Lewis. I guess he makes me feel so much better about my OCD tendencies. He makes me look so normal. LOL!

@Louise–The cable came back on during the show, but I missed several bits of it. Grr.

@Kacey–I’d be tempted to ask Charter that question. So frustrating.

@Lisa–I had meant to bold and italicize “a little bit”, but it was late and I missed it. I fixed it now–thanks! I could never work for that man.

@Denise–Isn’t it awesome? Great TV for sure.

@Coco–but you’d better make that coffee 140 degrees so he doesn’t notice!

@Angie–I think it’s safe to say that he can make anyone look normal. πŸ™‚

@Daryl–You should watch. I think you would dig it.

@Madge–You would love it.

@tysdaddy–It’s very entertaining…GO, get the DVD from season 1!

@Suzanne–That’s an interesting bit of news. I hope he does. Don’t forget to watch the FO reunion show next week.

The good thing (?) about Bravo shows is you know they’ll repeat it again, and again, and again.

I love seeing Ryan with Jeff. It’s like he’s amused by him, but really listens to him and takes him seriously. While laughing at him. Nice connection, very real.

Annnndddd, I had said I wouldn’t be watching this show! LOL But that’s how Bravo gets you, they repeat it so much, it’s on during those times you just want to turn off your brain, and it’s the only thing on….

I have seen bits and pieces of this show as I flip through the channels. I come across this – and am immediately struck by this semi-lunatic OCD dude on TV. Of course, I am immediately sucked in….

You and I are kindred souls. I adore this show. We just upgraded our cable for the fall and I am sooo happy to watch Jeff’s antics again.

@ Attila the Mom–I hear if you find the right doctor, you can get lips like that. Because it just looks that good. Yikes.

@ Dharmamama–Ryan is so cool. I love him, and the controlled amusement on his face when he’s talking to Jeff.

@ Ann–Of course, you love it!

@ Mark–Save yourself while you can.

@ flutter–I had a feeling you’d like it.

@ anymommy— Antics is a good word. I was cracking up when he said he didn’t have any pets, but that he hoped to get a dog someday. (Cue the five or whatever pets back at home.)

Sadly, one of the first things to go when times get tight is extended cable. So we dumped Cox, down to basic cable only. Therefor I have never heard of this show.

We are currently looking for friends that still have HBO so we can mooch of them when “Big Love” starts back up.

Nope – never seen it, but I’m that way about missing “Ugly Betty” and “The Office”.
Damn cable company – did they EVER get back to you, and how long did that take?
I hate them for making me need them so much!
