Dry heat, my…

by Jennifer on July 13, 2009

Hey look, this place is still here…After this many days, I feel like I should come in with a feather duster and a vacuum.

I don’t know what to tell you, except that I’ve been busy writing songs, co-writing songs, and having the time of my life doing it. It still feels strange at times. I have moments when I think, who do I think you are, anyway, having so much fun doing something you love? But  it feels exactly right.

So we’re just hanging out here, trying to stay cool through another desert summer, keeping the kids entertained and out of juvie. Pretty much what most of you are doing, right?

And the heat’s not so bad, really…After all, around midnight, it cools down enough (to 95 degrees, or so) that it’s bearable to go outside. What’s to complain about? 120 degrees when we got into the car he other day. Ouch.

I’m so happy for you, for finding the place and time to do what you love and taking the chance!

Summer seems to be more evident there than here in NY. It still rains sometimes, and it’s not nearly as warm as you’d expect it to be, considering it’s – hello? – July!

I’m glad you’re writing songs and loving it–I watched Music & Lyrics on TBS the other night and thought of you–wondered how it was going…

Hooray for your songwriting! That’s one way to deal with the heat.

Friends of ours moved (back) to Texas from AZ and they think our multiple over-100-degree days are no big deal. Cool as a morning breeze, even.

Keeping the kids occupied in this heat is a challenge. Could use a swimming pool in my backyard, right about now, and one of Mrs. G’s cabana boys.

YIKES! I am in TX and was about to say I sympathize with you since we are in the over 100′ s on heat index – hottest summer in a LONG time. But now I can’t complain – OK, maybe I just did, but I don’t feel sorry for myself anymore, just more sympathy for you. Will try to come up with some good indoor activities for kiddos on my site. 🙂

I was just thinking about you the other day and thinking what a great thing this song writing adventure is for you, keep going, girl!

It is rare to “work” at something fun. I’m glad you can do that! And just imagine if it were humid!

This season is new for you, and you’re making the best of it. So no guilt, okay? We’ll be here . . .

How exciting! There is nothing like igniting one’s passions. Go for it!

Let me tell you bout the heat…………..

I know its friggin hot in AZ, been there done that, got the t-shirt!

Unfortunately here in OK we have humidity and this thing called “the heat index” or how hot it feels.

Its 106 today with a heat index of 110.

The weathermen should just say. “Hot today, hot tomorrow, and for the weekend we have a 100 percent chance of heat. And btw it will be hot as hell but it will feel hotter than hell”

So I guess we are all “hot” except for the people up in the great white north who are probably patching up their igloos and making snow angels.

Oh btw Im one of Jenn’s co-writers and I can tell you she’s great!!!

Buh Bye!

Matt

I work in the section of state government that deals with all those kids that DO make it into Juvie…….suffice to say that a lot of parents ‘aren’t’ doing their job.

One thing about the state….I stay in my office all day long just sucking up that A/C which is free (government perks…..)

Jenn @ Juggling Life July 16, 2009 at 12:06 am

I stopped briefly in a dry heat today–108–and I must agree with your sentiment.

The songwriting thing is the coolest.

PaulaW July 16, 2009 at 6:56 am

I love your cartoon. May I ‘borrow’ it for my blog?

GaryC, Denise, and I almost have a song ready to post. I’m a bit biased of course, but I think it’s pretty good. I’m glad I got involved with this little project of Marc’s.

Shaye July 16, 2009 at 1:12 pm

So happy to hear that you’re finding happiness in your “work.” Makes me wanna read Ecclesiates again. 🙂

Welcome back to blogland and have a great day!

My area’s been promised (by the weatherman) a “cold front” where it will only be 95…rather than 105. I’ll take it.

Elizabeth Bradley July 16, 2009 at 3:31 pm

Summer has that effect. Glad to here you’re being productive despite the heat.

david mcmahon July 16, 2009 at 5:42 pm

We had frost this morning!

I’m so glad you’re having fun and loving what you’re doing. That’s the dream, isn’t it? To find something, anything that you love and go after it. That’s my dream, anyway.

That heat?! I would be melting.
