Conversation on the phone with my best friend today:
“Cr-ap. My internet connection just went out. The cable company’s doing maintenance today.”
“Oh, no. For how long?”
“They said until maybe 5:00. That’s, let me see…5 hours from now. Dammit.” (Do I swear too much?)
“Seriously, don’t they know you have blogs to read?”
“I know! You’d think. That’s like 47 years in dog years.”
“You mean blog years.”
Exactly.
Fortunately, I was reconnected in 9 blog years almost no time at all.

It’s time to write a few thank-you notes for the beautiful awards that have come my way in recent weeks. Sorry for taking so long to do this. Emily Post is not happy with me, either.
This first one came to me from Coco at Mommyhood and Life According to Coco. She writes beautifully about some things that are vast and painful, but can also dish about her favorite guilty pleasure, romance novels. I love that kind of complexity.
I’m passing it along to Julie Pippert: Using My Words, because she does exactly that. She uses her words to make the world better. I admire her sense of justice and fairness, along with her observations on all the nuances of motherhood.
This next award came from TXPoppet at Canned Laughter. She’s seems to think that my driving music has earned me “shotgun status on future road trips.” I don’t take that responsibility lightly, you know. I’m delighted that she shared it with me–plus, I dig anyone who less-than-3s my blog.
This one’s going to Mary Alice at From the Frontlines, because she can tell a great story. If you need proof, read her post from yesterday. While you’re there, convince her to sit outside for a while, alone, and quiet. She could use a break.
I love this next award, since it made me feel like kind of a badass when Daryl E at out & about in new york city passed it along to me. I can always count on her for gorgeous images from her life in New York, and good stories to go along with them.
I’m sharing this one with cce at Mad Marriage, because she’s got a lot of girl power and she’s a great writer.
And this award is from Cath at CrazyCath. She is one of my newer, but very dear, blogging friends. She lives in England, and I find myself hearing what she writes, in what I imagine her accent would sound like. (I haven’t told her that, so please don’t let on that you know.)
I’m supposed to pass this along to at least 10 others, but the hard part is narrowing it down to just 10. These, and many others which I also love, are part of my daily reading, and I look forward to each of them.

Oh man, I’m totally digging the girl power high five and you know I needed that today. Right back at you, my friend. Maybe we could get together and have coffee and then head on over to the nearest tattoo parlor and pick us out some serious ink for our biceps. What d’ya think?
I’ve got a match in one hour. I’ll be thinking of you while wiping the court with their pansy asses.
LOVE the cartoon. It applies very well to the story I told you on the phone yesterday. I made sure Mr. C saw it!
Congrats on all the well-deserved awards!
thank God you didn’t go with the bra story.

Congrats on all of your wonderful awards, Jennifer! You have such a great variety of readers. Fabulous!
I loved the conversation you had with your best friend “Madge.” Cracked me up!
Sometimes I wish my internet would go down so I could get some housework done.
too busy LOL-ing at Madge. Now i have to know the bra story.
Jennifer: That is the very first award blogging award I have ever received. It means much that it comes from you. I congratulate also for yours. I now have to go check out those few blogs you mention which I did not already frequent or lurk in. Loved the cartoon. Thanks again. You made my day.
I think I will start measuring my life in blog years. Thanks for the kind mention
And I keep meaning to mention how much I love your hair-you are so pretty.
Congratulations on your awards. That takes stamina–to receive all of those. Have you been lifting weights in preparation?
In particular I celebrate the one from Daryl that made you feel badass. That’s special.
And I love the blog years math!
When will you start posting to the Life/Hell blog? Talk about badass.
Congratulations on all of your awards.
And thank you!!
Jennifer – I do the same with you! I imagine your voice to be quite soft, lilting….
It’s your picture that does it! Congratulations on your awards. They are well deserved. Hope you are ok.
Congrats on all the awards–well deserved! 🙂

You deserve them all and excellent choices on passing them on
Congrats for the well deserved awards!
Now, tell me, how did you come up with the fabulous new design for your blog, it’s lovely!

Oh, my goodness! I never thought I’d be here my whole life growing up in Tennessee.
Ooops. Wait. That’s Reese Witherspoon’s Academy Awards acceptance speech. Sorry.
This is what I meant to say:
First I’d like to thank my husband, for allowing me to blog when I should be caring for our child. I’d also like to thank frozen chicken nuggets, for making dinner so quick to prepare so I can get back to my blog. I’d also like to thank all of the lovely people who read my blog, for without you, it would not be rated E for Excellent. Finally, I’d like to thank you, Jennifer, for flattering me with this wonderful award. I’m glad you think my blog is Excellent. I shall post this award with pride. But not today. Or tomorrow. Because I’ve been busy. Maybe the next day. Or the next. Who knows. Thanks anyway.
Congratulations Jennifer. I am new to your blog … popped in here and there. Your name came up the other night at a “Bossy” gathering.
You are so deserving of these kind awards.
I’ll be back.
Thank you!!! I feel guilty since I’ve been slacking on leaving comments lately. Spring break will be over soon and things will get back to normal!
Thank you!!!!!!!!
