About

Here’s what I know. Sometimes life shows off the prettiest view you’ve ever seen, and sometimes it looks like the darkest dark alley from a gritty movie. The sun comes out, or it disappears. The road lies flat as a closed book until it reaches the lean line of the horizon, or it’s all curves and long climbs and thin air. Or thin ice.

I’ve been there. I know. We all have. We all know.

But there’s this: A few more miles and the view can change. It does change.

And that’s what I write about here.

My name is Jennifer Schmitt and I’m a freelance writer in Arizona. My two great kids – a boy, 12 and a girl, 10 – keep me company (and doing laundry) and I count on them to make me laugh or make me crazy, sometimes at once.

You can find my writing other places, too, by clicking here or on the Other Words, Other Pages tab at the the top of any page. I used to write at Thursday Drive and will leave most of my content there, except for some favorite posts that I’m bringing along  to my new digs here.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you’ll take a moment to subscribe to my feed, either through a reader or by email.
