My heart goes out to people who suffer from migraine with any regularity. I only get one about once every month or two.
Today, you would have found me laid out with a washcloth over my eyes, only moving when I had to, and with two children buzzing around me like bees. Except louder. And more like screaming monkeys at times. “Litery,” as Girl would say, when she means literally. It’s her favorite word these days.
I’m happy to report that no one went hungry or set the house afire. And Advil Migraine gave me enough of a reprieve to take them to the pool tonight as promised.
Now I’m headed back into my cave, but I promise to re-emerge soon.
One good thing? Except for the pain, it’s a great diet plan.
P.S. I’ll be around to visit you all soon, and to respond to all your kind words from yesterday.

Hi there Jennifer. I am so sorry for that crummy migraine. They are a horrid thing. I am glad that you have a system worked out for getting rid of them. I bet the pool water felt really good for you.

Sorry to hear about your migraine, eh? (That’s Canadian for: “Sorry to hear about your migraine.”) I get them once or twice a year; some bad, some worse. My sister however gets them regularly, and she is often disabled. They get so bad that she carries a number of prescription drugs with her all the time, and the local emergency room keeps some Imatrex (sp?) injectors for her in a frig constantly. And I am fully aware of the stomach-head connection during a migraine… not to mention the light, sound, and motion connections. No fun.
Hope you feel better soon. Have a beauty day tomorrow!
I’m glad it’s passing.
I was lucky enough to stop suffering from cluster headaches when I got pregnant with my first child. The neurologist said it usually goes one of two ways with the hormone surge–worse or gone. Thank goodness I landed on the right side.

I get four or five a week. My prescription doesn’t really work anymore, in a month or so I’ll be going on something new. Hooray!

*whispers* Ooof. I’m sorry, Honey. I know how awful these things are though, fortunately, I don’t know first-hand. Feel better soon, okay? *tiptoes out of the room, closing door VERY gently behind her*
As a migraine sufferer myself, I can empathize. Go where it’s quite and feel better…tiptoeing away now…

Ooh, i feel for you! I’ve never had a migraine, but my eight year old gets them at least once every two months, and it’s a miserable thing. Stay in your cave as long as you need, and hopefully it will pass quickly!

Oh, ugh. I’ve had migraines since I was 5 – so I feel for you. I think it’s interesting that it came around this poignant anniversary for you, as well. I hope you feel better, girl. Migraines are just the pits, especially in this heat.

As all diets involve some pain or another (because, uh, hello! being hungry kind of sucks. As does not eating unlimited quantities of French pastries, woe is my re-Americanized ass), I suppose a migraine might could be a marketable weight loss plan.
Or … not.
Feel better!

Oh how awful those are … do you get the flashing lights in the corners of your eyes right before the headache starts? If so, drink a BIG cup of black coffee it will keep it at bay a bit and sometimes it makes it go away completely .. something .. the caffiene I think helps to expand the blood vessels that are trying to constrict and causing the PAIN. I had cluster migraine for a several months .. horrendous .. they went away just the way they came .. suddenly and without any reason .. but boy did I ever learn that the expression ‘blinding headache’ was legit …
I hope you are better now

Hey babe? Ice on the back of your neck, and have your hubby or someone go get you some advil migraine and b-2 tablets.

My mom was getting these a LOT and was miserable. They took out her ovaries and now she’s doing better. It can be very hormonally-related.
The only really good thing about a migraine is the relieved feeling you get when it’s gone. I’ve had mini-ones…or perhaps just really bad sinus ones…not sure which.
Hang in there!!

I really liked Flutter’s suggestion of the ice on the back of the neck and the b-2 vitamins to supplement the advil.

Hope you feel better soon, Jennifer.
I’m so sorry. Migraines are just horrendous. Especially when having to deal with little children, who are adorable most of the time but not when migraines are afoot!
Migraine sucks. Unless you’ve suffered it, you have no idea how debilitating it is. Never thought of it as a diet plan though, but yup! food is a no no, as is light, noise, speech, movement…..
Hope you felt better soon.

Ohhhhh. So sorry Jennifer! You know about me and headaches. Frequent and painful, but luckily they rarely escalate to a full blown migraine. Feel better, friend!

I’m sorry to hear about your migraine! I used to get them a LOT more often before I was put on thyroid medicine. It’s funny how it’s all linked together like that. I’ll still get one at random intervals, mostly affected by bad weather. I know now to avoid things like MSG and most processed food.
You know, Benadryl is also supposed to be good for migraines, mostly because it makes you sleep through the worst of it.
Here’s to less pain in the brain!
