All evening, I’ve been wading through online real estate listings. Which, it turns out, have funny words in them like rearyard.
I pulled this straight from the listing:
RESORT-STYLE REARYARD WITH ALL AMENITIES
I guess that because it’s resort-style, with all those amenities and everything, it must be fancier than a regular backyard. (Who knows, it’s probably be a common real estate term and I’m the only dumbass who doesn’t know it. So don’t pick on me if that’s true.)
In any case, I think I’ll start using the word from now on, just to confuse my kids.
“Kids, go play in the rearyard!” or “Boy, you left your baseball in the rearyard again.”
See, it’s funny, right? (All of this is evidence that I shouldn’t be allowed to stay up past midnight. At this hour, you get what you get.)
Maybe I should get my rearside to bed.

I have no idea if that’s a real estate term commonly used or not, but it is funny!

My ranch-style foreyard needs mowing . . .
And my van needs a new alternator. The whiz-bang kind that does its job. Not like the one I have now. (Vaca plans are on hold. Yippee . . . )
Have a good day for me, please?

Rearyard. That’s almost as pretentious as “gathering room” or “foyer” or “master suite.” Real estate jargon is a riot.

If I start using rearyard my kids will think there’s yet another place I’m nagging them about watering!

Rear yards are a good place for keeping one’s pre-owned tires.

Maybe the lizards in a rearyard all speak French and refuse anything but sparkling water.
See, I don’t EVEN need to stay up late to be totally seeing all of the humor in this.
This is one of those words I’ll suddenly start using around my hubby ALL the time, just to pique him enough to finally ask where the F did the new word come from and then the “I don’t even want to know….”….

Rearyard sounds like a prison recreational area.
NOT a pretty word.
Does not belong in a real estate ad.

Rearyard? It sounds like what might be behind your backyard, maybe a better name might be: the “wayback-yard.” It’s where Mr. Peabody and Sherman went after their adventures.
I have never heard of a rearyard! It’s a backyard!

I have never heard of a rearyard either. That is odd. but here, this will make you laugh. When I was growing up…we called the heel ends of a loaf of bread….bread butts. I was using the term very normal like at camp because it is an every day term to me….and everyone thought I had lost my mind.
