In the mood to nosh

by Jennifer on July 3, 2008

What is Blog Nosh Magazine? It’s a buzz-worthy new ezine that features the best archived posts that may have fallen off the front page of your blogs, but that you would love for the world to get another chance to see.

Blog Nosh’s channel editors look for the best archived posts to feature on one of many channel pages– which include Art & Design, Business, Family, Personal, Education, Politics and Entertainment. Also, you can submit your favorite posts from other bloggers, or submit your own work. Click for FAQs. Plus, if they select one of your posts, you get to put a cool button in your sidebar that looks like this:

I’m mentioning Blog Nosh today because one of their editors, Catnip (of Catnip and Coffee) chose one of my posts for the Entertainment channel today!

When you leave here, go on over and look around. You know you’re hungry.

Ann at Velvet Lava Cafe (one of my favorite stops every day) tagged me for this meme. And because she asked so nicely, and because she’s a really cool, soulful, funny chick, I couldn’t say no. Plus, she promised to bake something for me. (Right, Ann? Uh, Ann?) She’s always baking something scrumptious, and her writing is just as delicious.

What I was doing 10 years ago? Well, I wrote about this not long ago, so I’ll just send you there: Rooms With a View

Five snacks I enjoy? Just five? All right. Seedless red grapes with thin slices of Dubliner cheese. Toast with jam. Corn nuts on long car trips. Tostitos and salsa. Caramel Cone Haagen Dazs ice cream.

Five things on my to do list? Let’s pretend for a moment that my to-do list exists outside of my brain. Finish my chapter for ChapterBytes. Pack. Fold laundry. Fold laundry. Fold laundry while sitting on the edge of my seat waiting to hear if our offer on the house was accepted. (Everyone, please cross your fingers today. And maybe tomorrow. Unless you need your hands, then carry on.)

Five things I would do if I became a billionaire? Set up a meeting with a financial advisor (but that’s just good sense, so I won’t count that one on the list). I would make sure everyone I care about would live in financial comfort for life. Research and then give away a lot of the money to organizations and causes where it would do some real good, with recommendations from my friend LW. Hire a tutor and travel all over the world a la the Jolie-Pitts. (But with fewer kids. And more birth control.) Invest in companies that are working toward creating or perfecting alternative energy sources, specifically solar and wind energy. Hire a trainer and nutritionist for myself and anyone among my family or friends who wants to get healthier but needs a forceful bit of a push, with a guided fitness and nutrition program.

Five jobs I’ve had? My first paying job was sifting aluminum scrap from piles and barrels of fine, black sand for 15 cents a pound at the aluminum foundry where my dad had a second job doing machine work. Counselor and lifeguard at summer camp. Nanny. Gift shop manager/buyer. Product manager for small giftware company.

Five of my bad habits? Not putting my shoes away when I take them off. Saying foul, but essentially true, things about other drivers on the road. Swearing (though I have a hard time agreeing that it’s bad). Stepping over something that the kids have left on the floor. (I can ignore objects for days. Jenn might be breaking out in something right now! Please come manage my house, Jenn!) Oh, and this one, which I put off until last: Procrastination.

Five places I’ve lived? Springfield, Missouri (and surrounding area). Lincoln, Nebraska. Several towns in Connecticut. Elkhart and Goshen, Indiana. Mesa, Arizona. (Please, please, let me add one more, soon…)

Now, for the part where I’m supposed to tag five other people. You know I’m no good at this, so if you’re having a slow day, take this and make it your own. I’ll just let you run with it if you’ve hung around this long. (Why do I hear the music from Born Free in my head? You’re right. I should be one some kind of medication.)

If I had a billion dollars I would be hiring people to just kick others butts for my entertainment.

But then again, I am nasty.

Girl, I just don’t know how you keep up! I keep finding new blogs to read through your blog and others (like David’s). I’m becoming overloaded. Yours, though, will always get a top billing in my reader 🙂

Peace – D

Medication doesn’t stop the music.
It just plays it much slower.

And, then (IF) once you decide to stop the medication..
the withdrawl is worse than a really bad hangover…
and THAT is putting it mildly.

I say, let the music play (just as it is, in your head). LOL!

BLog Nosh sounds cool, congrats on getting a post chosen to be featured! That’s so flattering!

I have a weird fascination with the Jolie-Pitts. Not sure why. They’re just such a famous and gorgeous couple with so much money and such a wonderful menagerie of children…although there’s NO WAY I could have that many. :o)

Your list and mine for what to when we find ourselves suddenly billionaires are quite similar. Except, I would first get out of debt, then buy this house we’re renting. Oh, and I don’t have a friend LW.

Congratulations on the noshing award. You so deserve it. And the meme, I’ll reserve for tomorrow since I’ve penciled it in for a slow day. Out to check out this blogger you love. If you like her, she must be good.
